Test Code CTSHC Thyroid Cascade Profile

Additional Codes

LAB5431

Methodology

Profile Information:
T3 (Triiodothyronine), Total Thyroid-Stimulating Hormone (TSH)
T4 (Thyroxine), Free

Recommended as the most cost-effective protocol to screen for and diagnose thyroid disease.

The testing sequence for this test begins with a TSH. If the TSH is abnormal (either low or high), an order for a free T4 is reflexed. If the TSH result was low and the free T4 result is normal, a total T3 is reflexed.
