Methodology
Useful for evaluation of males with erectile dysfunction, gynecomastia, osteoporosis, infertility, delays or precocious puberty, and for monitoring replacement therapy. Evaluation in women with hirsutism, virilization and oligomenorrhea. Evaluation of infants with ambiguous genitalia and/or virilizing syndrome.
Please note: Patients with heterophilic antibodies, patients receiving high-dose biotin therapy, patients with indirect bilirubin >15 mg/dL or total bilirubin >20 mg/dL and/or patients receiving new steroid-based medications (analogues) with similar chemical structures to testosterone may show elevated or erroneous results. There is a strong interaction with Nandrolone deconate, 11B-Hydroxytestosterone and 11Bketo-testosterone and samples from patients receiving these compounds should not be tested.
