Specimen Requirements

Submit only one of the following specimens:

Plasma

Container/Tube: light green-top (lithium heparin) tube

Specimen: 1 mL of heparinized plasma

Transport Temperature: Ambient

Collection Instructions: Collect two hours after a meal containing at least 75 grams of carbohydrate

Note: indicate plasma.

Serum:

Container/tube: Plain, red-top tube or serum gel tube

Specimen: 1 mL serum

Transport temperature: Ambient

Collection Instructions: Collect 2 hours after a meal containing at least 75 grams of carbohydrate.

Note: Indicate serum
