Methodology
Useful for the diagnosis of acute hepatitis B virus infection, chronic hepatitis B virus infection, or an asymptomatic carrier state.
The performance of the assay has not been established for patients younger than 12 years of age or older than 82 years of age.

Reference Values
Negative (nonreactive). A non-reactive result does not exclude the possibility of exposure to or early acute infection with HBF.
If reactive, sent to a reference laboratory for confirmation.
