Methodology
Useful for diagnosis of hepatitis A.
Reactive in-house testing for Hepatitis A antibodies will reflex Hepatitis A IgM testing.
IgM antibodies reflect recent acute infection with hepatitis A virus. IgG antibodies reflect infection which occurred months to years before.

Container/Tube: Plain, red-top tube or gold serum gel tube
Specimen: 2 mL of serum
Transport Temperature: Ambient
Collection Instructions: Avoid hemolysis.
Reference Values
Negative (nonreactive) - A negative result does not exclude the possibility of exposure to or early acute infection with HAV.
If the hepatitis A antibody (total) is reactive, hepatitis A antibody IgM testing will reflex automatically.
