Specimen Requirements

Submit only 1 of the following specimens:

 

Plasma

Container/Tube: Dark green-top (sodium heparin) tube or light green-top (lithium heparin) tube

Specimen: 1 mL of heparinized plasma

Transport Temperature: Ambient

Collection Instructions: Draw specimen 6 to 8 hours after last dose.

Note: 1. Indicate plasma.
2. Label specimen appropriately (plasma).

 

Serum

Container/Tube: Plain, red-top tube or gold serum gel tube

Specimen: 1 mL of serum

Transport Temperature: Ambient

Collection Instructions: Draw specimen 6 to 8 hours after last dose.

Note: 1. Indicate serum.
2. Label specimen appropriately (serum).

Reference Values

Therapeutic: 0.5-0.9 ng/mL

Toxic concentration: >2.0 ng/mL
