Specimen Requirements
Container/Tube: Pink-top (EDTA) VACUTAINER or lavender-top (EDTA) MICROTAINER (for newborns)
Specimen: 6 mL (newborns: 1 mL) of EDTA whole blood
Transport Temperature: Ambient
Collections Instructions: Inpatient must have a hospital wristband and Blood Bank identification band.
Note: Label specimen with the patient’s full name, medical record number, phlebotomist’s initials, and date and time of draw. The initials of the second person identifying the patient must also be written on the label. The blood bank wristband number must be present on the tube (either hand write or use one of the peel off stickers).

Negative
If positive, monospecific direct coombs, elutions, and antibody identification performed as indicated.
