Test Code ACS Antibody Screen, Blood
Additional Codes
LAB278
Methodology
Used to detect atypical antibodies, also known as indirect coombs.
The initial test performed is an antibody screen. If the antibody screen is positive, the antibody will be identified and will be titered if the patient is pregnant and the antibody is capable of crossing the placenta. Depending upon the antibody identification results, additional tests, such as mono-specific direct coombs, antibody elution, red cell antigen typing may be initiated.
