Specimen Requirements
Physician should make an appointment with the laboratory so that a technologist will be available to bring the slides and preservatives and assist in making the smears. Appointments are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m to 2:45 p.m. Brief clinical information must be provided. CBC should be done the same day or within 48 hours of procedure.
Physician obtains 4 mL of bone marrow aspirate for smears and clot sections and a piece of bone for biopsy. Technologist forwards promptly at ambient temperature.

An interpretive report will be provided.
